This is a very good condition set of RARE PING ISI NICKEL irons 1 - LW (including two Pitching Wedges and two Sand Wedges Cushin JZ Stiff steel shafts with Ping Lamkin Velvet grips in excellent condition.
The NICKEL version of the Ping ISI was the top of the range of this model which was produced in the period 1998-99 in stainless steel, Beryllium Copper (BeCu) and Nickel, although the Nickel version was limited in numbers and significantly more expensive. This Nickel model has become a serious collectible with very few full sets offered in Australia or internationally.
The set as is offered here has been assembled by its previous owner with an initial set of 3 iron through to Lob wedge (10 clubs total). This set was re-shafted with Karsten Ping JZ Steel shafts which are standard length – the 5 iron measures 38 inches. This set of 10 clubs has identical serial numbers throughout and has as new Ping grips. The clubs were re-marked as White Dot at the time they were re-shafted. Confirmation of the lie angle rating will be undertaken before delivery to a new owner.
That owner later increased the set by adding a 1 iron, 2 iron and second versions of the Pitching Wedge and Sand Wedge to a new total of 14 clubs as are offered here.
All are the Nickel ISI model with stiff steel shafts.
This Nickel ISI set is still very playable but it stakes a big claim to being rare and very collectible.
This set has had careful use and shows only minor marks on any surface. Marking of the faces shows limited use. Grooves are still crisp and well defined.
